El objetivo institucional es describir primero y evaluar después qué características corresponden a modificación humana, procesos naturales o una combinación de ambos.

Documentation of stones, possible tools, amulets, ceremonial objects, representations, sound-producing objects, markings and inscriptions. The institutional goal is to describe first and then evaluate which features reflect human modification, natural processes or a combination of both.

תיעוד של אבנים, כלים אפשריים, קמעות, חפצים טקסיים, ייצוגים, פריטים מפיקי צליל, סימנים וכתובות. המטרה המוסדית היא לתאר תחילה ולאחר מכן להעריך אילו מאפיינים משקפים שינוי אנושי, תהליכים טבעיים או שילוב של שניהם.

Fred propone que determinados materiales podrían señalar una historia de Puerto Rico anterior y más compleja que el periodo taíno tradicionalmente reconocido. Entre sus hipótesis figuran posibles relaciones con pueblos hebreos, medos, persas, babilonios y otros contextos del antiguo Cercano Oriente.

Fred proposes that some materials may point to a Puerto Rican history earlier and more complex than the traditionally recognized Taíno period. His hypotheses include possible relationships with Hebrew, Median, Persian, Babylonian and other ancient Near Eastern contexts.

Fred utiliza “Translucencia” para describir observaciones de formas, marcas, figuras, símbolos o posibles escrituras que se vuelven más visibles al modificar el ángulo, intensidad o dirección de la iluminación. ArqueoPR promueve comparaciones entre imagen normal, iluminación posterior, iluminación lateral y versiones anotadas.

Fred uses “Translucency” to describe observations of forms, marks, figures, symbols or possible writing that become more visible when the angle, intensity or direction of lighting changes. ArqueoPR promotes comparisons among normal light, backlight, side light and annotated versions.

Aerolitófonos

Fred denomina aerolitófonos a determinados objetos de piedra o materiales petrificados que producen sonido mediante el paso del aire. Su investigación examina forma, perforaciones, cámaras interiores, flujo de aire, frecuencia, tono, desgaste, acústica y posible modificación humana.

Fred uses the term aerolithophones for certain stone objects or petrified materials that produce sound through moving air. His research examines shape, perforations, internal chambers, airflow, frequency, tone, wear, acoustics and possible human modification.

Algunas piezas son interpretadas por Fred como posibles soportes de escritura con símbolos repetidos, secuencias, marcas organizadas e imágenes. La documentación responsable exige mostrar el objeto sin marcas editoriales junto a las áreas señaladas y explicar también interpretaciones alternativas.

Fred interprets some pieces as possible writing supports containing repeated symbols, sequences, organized markings and images. Responsible documentation requires showing the unmarked object alongside annotated areas and also explaining alternative interpretations.

Algunos podrían ser formaciones naturales; otros requieren estudio para determinar si existió utilización o modificación humana.

The archive includes materials Fred interprets as possible fossils, petrified organisms or representations of mollusks, reptiles, birds, fish, marine organisms and land animals. Some may be natural formations; others require study to determine whether there was human use or modification.
